The Fourth Clan

Several Mornstar merchants re-established the city of Starton and created the Riverstar Clan after the Cloverstar Clan reported they had made the area safe for trading again. Though there are farmers and fishermen, most Riverstars are merchants and very shrewd ones at that. They also have the Mornstar gift of gab and can charm their customers into buying almost anything. Their favorite bartering opponents are the "hidden" Cloverstar traders, who they feel are the only competitors that present a worthy challenge. Still, Riverstars are more than fair to the main Cloverstar Clan and sell their goods for them. A Riverstar proverb says that it is better to have a grateful Cloverstar behind you than his gold in your pouch.

The Riverstars are also the main supplier of Fleecestar wool products and have an almost symbiotic relationship with their humbler country cousins. Strangely, there is a great deal of respect between the Fourth and Sixth Clans - neither mocks the other's culture, despite the obvious differences. The roots of this respect can be traced back to the Age of Confusion when, during the great economic upheaval after the demise of Dalferon, the Fleecestars helped their Riverstars cousins and kept them from total financial ruin by offering them a trade agreement that remains in effect even until the present day.
